1.    Did you know that:

1) Recommended childhood vaccines contain thimerosal (Mercury).

2) Certain  vaccines contain 40 times more mercury that is considered safe by the FDA.

3) There are epidemiological studies linking M-M-R (measles, mumps, rubella) to Autism. (Dr. Spitzer from Canada.)

4) The symptoms of Autism match the symptoms of Mercury poisoning .

5) Autism was labeled in the late 1930's, around the same time mercury was added to vaccines.

6) Since the mid 1980's Autism has increased 500% in the U.S. and U.K, around the same time M-M-R was introduced.

7) Chairman of the Committee on Government Reform, Rep. Dan Burton is calling for a complete recall of all Mercury containing vaccines.

10.    What is Autism?

Diagnostic Criteria for 299.00 Autistic Disorder

[The following is from Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders: DSM IV (pronounced DSM-4)

 (I) A total of six (or more) items from (A), (B), and (C), with at least two from (A), and one each from (B) and (C)

      (A) qualitative impairment in social interaction, as manifested by at least two of the following:
           1. marked impairments in the use of multiple nonverbal behaviors such as eye-to-eye gaze, facial expression, body posture, and gestures to regulate social interaction
           2. failure to develop peer relationships appropriate to developmental level
           3. a lack of spontaneous seeking to share enjoyment, interests, or achievements with other people, (e.g., by a lack of showing, bringing, or pointing out objects of interest to other people)
           4. lack of social or emotional reciprocity ( note: in the description, it gives the following as examples: not actively participating in simple social play or games, preferring solitary activities, or involving others in activities only as tools or "mechanical" aids )

      (B) qualitative impairments in communication as manifested by at least one of the following:
           1. delay in, or total lack of, the development of spoken language (not accompanied by an attempt to compensate through alternative modes of communication such as gesture or mime)
           2. in individuals with adequate speech, marked impairment in the ability to initiate or sustain a conversation with others
           3. stereotyped and repetitive use of language or idiosyncratic language
           4. lack of varied, spontaneous make-believe play or social imitative play appropriate to developmental level

      (C) restricted repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behavior, interests and activities, as manifested by at least two of the following:
           1. encompassing preoccupation with one or more stereotyped and restricted patterns of interest that is abnormal either in intensity or focus
           2. apparently inflexible adherence to specific, nonfunctional routines or rituals
           3. stereotyped and repetitive motor mannerisms (e.g. hand or finger flapping or twisting, or complex whole-body movements)
           4. persistent preoccupation with parts of objects

(II) Delays or abnormal functioning in at least one of the following areas, with onset prior to age 3 years:

      (A) social interaction
      (B) language as used in social communication
      (C) symbolic or imaginative play

(III) The disturbance is not better accounted for by Rett's Disorder or Childhood Disintegrative Disorder

11.    Government hearings on the dramatic increase in Autism

http://www.house.gov/reform/hearings/healthcare/00.06.04/

My (Andrew Nawrocki) summary paragraphs from the hearings:

http://www.house.gov/reform/hearings/healthcare/00.06.04/boyle.htm
Boyle discusses the prevalence of autism in the first 2 paragraphs

http://www.house.gov/reform/hearings/healthcare/00.06.04/singh.htm
..."As I made scientific presentation of my initial findings, a
vaccine-autism connection became even more apparent. I compiled a
nonscientific, anecdotal survey of vaccine-injured children with
“autistic regression” or autistic disorder, as reported by families.
Surprisingly, up to 93% of the reported cases had autistic symptoms
shortly after vaccinations (52% post-MMR, 33% post-DPT, and 8% post-MMR
and/or post-DPT)."

http://www.house.gov/reform/hearings/healthcare/00.06.04/rimland.htm
..."Let me dispel several myths promoted by those who deny the
autism-vaccine connection: 1. They claim the vaccines are safe, but
physicians are indoctrinated to disbelieve claims of harm and are  not
trained to recognize nor required to report any adverse reactions.  From
90% to 99% of the adverse reactions reported to doctors are never
reported by those doctors to the government’s extremely lax Vaccine
Adverse Event Reporting System, known as the VAERS."

 <snip>

3. They say that autism has a large genetic component, and therefore
vaccines must play a minimal, if any, role in the causation of autism.
My book Infantile Autism, published in 1964, was the first systematic
attempt to marshal the evidence for genetics as a contributing cause of
autism, so I am certainly not hostile to that idea. However, genes do
not begin to account for the huge increase  in the incidence of autism,
ranging from 250% to 500% in various places.

 4. They claim that autism naturally occurs at about 18 months, when the
MMR is routinely given, so the association is merely coincidental and
not causal.  But the onset of autism at 18 months is a recent
development. Autism starting at 18 months rose very sharply in the
mid-1980s, when the MMR vaccine came into wide use. A coincidence?

http://www.house.gov/reform/hearings/healthcare/00.06.04/hirtz.htm
INCIDENCE AND PREVALENCE
...   "Unfortunately, we do not have a definitive answer to the question
of what the true incidence of autism is. Estimates vary widely, but
recent studies suggest that as many as one in 500 persons may be
affected by some form of autism. Recent reports suggest that the
incidence of autism may be substantially increasing."

Autism NDI - Autism Network for Dietary Intervention
FAQ Frequently Asked Questions from ANDI http://www.autismndi.com   April , 2000

Q: I don't have a child with autism, but I have a young child and I am concerned about vaccinations. How do I know if he is at risk for getting autism?
A: We can't say for sure, but there are certain risk factors that should raise a red flag:

1.  Is there an older sibling with allergies, eczema, asthma, autism/PDD, or
ADHD?

2.  Does the child's parents or immediate family suffer from autoimmune or
gut-related diseases like MS, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile diabetes,
hypothyroidism, celiac disease, Crohn's disease, etc.? Do they have food or
environmental allergies, or asthma, or eczema?

3.  Has the child already had an adverse reaction such as fever, seizures, or
high-pitched screaming after previous vaccinations?

4.  Does the child have a history of allergies, respiratory infections or ear
infections?

5.  Is the child currently sick or getting over a cold? Vaccinating when a
child's immune system is down may have effects that are not yet understood.

If the above questions give you reason for concern, discuss postponing the child's vaccines with his doctor until he is older and his immune system is stronger. Some doctors recommend that at such a time, for children in the risk group, vaccines should be given in their single form, such as measles alone, wait 6 months, mumps alone, etc.

Don't be intimidated by statements like "there are no studies linking autism with vaccinations" or that "such things are very rare." This is simply not true. Never have we had such an aggressive vaccination policy, and school districts across the country are now reporting as many as 1/139 children with autism. To make an informed decision, check out websites like the National Vaccine Information Center ( http://www.909shot.com ), the Autism Autoimmunity Project ( http://www.gti.net/truegrit ), and http://whale.to/vaccines.html

If you are unsure about your ability to commit to this diet without medical testing, contact Antibody Assay Labs and request information and a test kit for urinary peptide testing.  http://www.antibodyassay.com/urinary.htm Urinary Polypeptides & IAG

Q: Why do I need to remove gluten and casein?
A: It doesn't take much of these opiate peptides to interfere with normal functioning. Although you may notice a change after just removing dairy (a good place to start), the proteins are so similar that if one is a problem, the other should be removed as soon as possible. Often, no improvement is noted until a hidden source of gluten or dairy is removed from the diet.

Q: I would like to try this diet, but the idea of starting it, particularly with my child and my family, overwhelms me.
A: You are in luck. Several terrific resources are at your disposal. Please see the following websites:
